Soulless Idealism

You looked into my eyes,

I don’t know what you were hoping to see.

But your soulless idealism,

Shown though your eyes,

As clearly as those burning blues.

What did you hope to achieve?

When you lectured me,

On what was right and wrong,

And what was worth fighting for.

Have you not seen the darkness?

Or have you chosen to ignore it?

With all its inconvenient truths.

Or are you simply following,

Following the narrow idealist’s path to power.

I don’t know how,

The rest of the world,

Can be so blind,

To your soulless idealism,

When it shines so brightly.
